The opposition were in for a treat!! Next day a visit to the WD & HO Wills' factories, then Cheddar Caves as well as a Variety Show at the Bristol Empire in the evening!

This turned out to be a most disappointing season for Rovers' fans.

Finishing 20th with just Norwich City and Brighton below them.
There was no automatic relegation to the Conference or similar, clubs had to "apply for re-election", I am sure a bit of bribery went on to ensure that there was no change.
